Earth and Environment Master programme at Wageningen University
Planet Earth is a fascinating and complex system supporting all forms of life. Do you wish to contribute to finding solutions for various issues related to our planet? During the two-year master programme at Wageningen University, you will learn about earth and the environment, meteorology, soil, hydrology and earth science by using tools like physics, chemistry, biology and mathematics. You will acquire a quantitative understanding of the composition, structure and processes of the earth and its atmosphere, as well as the impact of human activity. Water scarcity, soil degradation, loss of biodiversity, vulnerability to severe weather and climate change are just a few examples of the major issues that need to be addressed.
Earth and Environment study outline
The Master Earth and Environment consists of courses, an internship and a research thesis. It is possible to specialise in different fields and thesis research can be done in any one of the following ten Earth and Environment tracks:
- Aquatic Ecology and Water Quality Management
- Atmospheric Chemistry and Air Quality
- Earth System Science
- Hydrology and Quantitative Water Management
- Meteorology
- Nature Conservation and Plant Ecology
- Soil Biology and Biological Soil Quality
- Soil Chemistry and Chemical Soil Quality
- Soil Geography and Landscape
- Soil Physics, Ecohydrology and Groundwater Management
